Independent Safeguarding Authority

The government’s new Vetting and Barring Scheme begins on 12 October 2009. The scheme is intended to provide extra protection for children and vulnerable adults. It does not replace the CRB checks, but complements them by aiming to ensure that no unsuitable person works with children and vulnerable adults.
